c
o-presented by Queens Together and Museum of the Moving Image

Please join us and other community members for the online premiere of Devin Klos’s short film, Queens Together at the Eternal Flame (2021), featuring local restaurant owners as they gather at Socrates Sculpture Park to participate in a celebration of food and art, anchored by artist Paul Ramírez Jonas’s Eternal Flame. The program will be hosted by Claudia Sanchez and will feature special guests. The online event serves as a fundraiser for Queens Together, a local non-profit organization representing restaurants, food businesses and communities in our diverse borough. Funds raised will go towards food distribution via Zone126, another local nonprofit serving Astoria and Long Island City families.

The event will take place live on YouTube and Facebook via Queens Together.

The event is free to join. The program begins at 7:00 p.m. ET and runs under one hour.

About the organizations:

Queens Together is a non-profit association of independent restaurants supporting each other in business and feeding communities during crises. Their motto is “One Borough. One Voice.” During the COVID-19 crisis they are building a bridge that connects local restaurants with food relief efforts in their communities. The dollars raised allow restaurants to make real money, pay their workers, fuel the local economy and most importantly do what restaurants do best: care for others with food. That's because the meals and groceries they fund, prepared by these local chefs, go to neighbors facing food and economic insecurity. The work benefits the full circle of the community: from food businesses to those in need to those who donate. This mission will continue beyond COVID-19 and become a tool for future needs and projects.

Zone 126 is a community-based organization focused on Western Queens and is at the forefront of a collaborative strategy that supports young people attending local under-resourced schools to ensure that they have the resources needed to succeed in life. They are committed to providing students and their families with the critical nutritional support that they need in order to close the food insecurity gap that exists all across our country.
