Part of RetroActive – A Disreputable Cinema Halloween & Disreputable Cinema
Sunday, October 27, 2019, 4:30 p.m.
Museum of the Moving Image - Redstone Theater

With introduction by screenwriter Dennis Paoli

Dir. Stuart Gordon. 1985, 86 mins. 35mm. Jeffrey Combs, Barbara Crampton, Bruce Abbott, David Gale.Dr. Herbert West has a good head on his shoulders… and another one on his desk! Adapted from the famous short story by H.P. Lovecraft, the master of cosmic dread, Re-Animator is a modern update of the mad scientist trope and a quintessential work of delirious 1980s splatter mayhem. With outrageous special effects and a standout performance by Jeffrey Combs (From Beyond) as the film’s deliciously deranged namesake, Re-Animator endures as one of the great horror films of the era.
