Dir. Chuck Russell. 1987, 96 mins. 35mm. Robert Englund, Heather Langencamp, Laurence Fishburne, Patricia Arquette. Freddy Krueger is back with a vengeance, only this time he is up against a group of teens who give as good as they get! This fan-favorite third entry in the Nightmare on Elm Street series is an imaginative adventure with an ingenious script co-written by franchise creator Wes Craven, which is filled with equal parts wit and scares, and makes ample room for the film’s diverse and well-defined cast of young people confronting forces of evil. Dream Warriors also presides over the full transformation of Freddy Krueger into a proper MTV-era icon, one equipped with a signature creepy cackle and vulgar one-liners.
