With director Athena Scotes in person

Dir. Athena Scotes. 2017, 76 mins. DCP. Folk poet Vasiliki Papachristou Skoutela left Greece in 1931 for a better life in America, all the while keeping alive in her mind hundreds of ancient songs she had heard as a child in her mountain village in Epirus. At the age of 103, she returns to an economically depressed Greece and faces young people who, like she herself had done, are considering leaving home. Music legend Lakis Halkias appears in the film.
