As the adopted daughter of a prominent Greek family living in Istanbul, Polyxeni seems destined for a life of privilege. In an attempt to gain self-reliance and independence she rejects her parents’ choice of husband, and becomes vulnerable to those seeking to destroy her. The film received eleven Hellenic Film Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture and Best Actress for Katia Goulioni.
