Dir. Rober Calzadilla. Venezuela/Colombia, 2016, 99 mins. Digital projection. New York premiere. With Vicente Quintero, Giovanni García, Vicente Peña. Based on a true story, this taut drama weaves a tale of injustice—a 30-year-old tragedy that still shames the Venezuelan people. When the tiny village of El Amparo is rocked by the mysterious deaths of a dozen fishermen accused of being guerrilla operatives, powerful politicians desperately attempt to keep the truth from coming out.
