Magic Mike

Part of Born on the Fourth of July
Sunday, July 3, 2016, 4:00 p.m.

Dir. Steven Soderbergh. 2012, 110 mins. DCP. With Matthew McConaughey, Channing Tatum, Alex Pettyfer, Cody Horn, Joe Manganiello, Matt Bomer. Part ladies' night crowd-pleaser, part moody art-house exercise, Steven Soderbergh enjoyed one of his biggest box office hits with this summer sleeper. Mike spends his days pursuing the American Dream, from roofing houses to designing furniture at his Tampa beach condo. But at night, he is the hot headliner in an all-male revue. For years, thanks to his original style and over-the-top dance moves, Magic Mike has been rocking the stage at Club Xquisite, which is owned and operated by the ambitious former stripper Dallas. Just as another summer opens up to a world of fun, Mike begins falling for his new protégé's sister. Despite the mutual attraction, Mike might miss his chance when his lifestyle gets in the way. (Released June 29, 2012.)
