PREVIEW SCREENING
Les Cowboys

Part of Les Cowboys and The Searchers
Sunday, June 19, 2016, 5:15 p.m.

Dir. Thomas Bidegain. 2015, 104 mins. DCP courtesy Cohen Media. With François Damien, Finnegan Oldfield. Thomas Bidegain, the screenwriter for Jacques Audiard’s films Dheepan, A Prophet, and Rust and Bone, makes an impressive directorial debut in this timely reinvention of John Ford’s The Searchers, set in contemporary France. Alain is a central figure in this community. He is dancing with his daughter Kelly, 16, as his wife and their young son, Kid, watch from the sidelines. Kelly disappears, and Alain embarks on a relentless search for his daughter. He travels to dark unsettling places, where his sole support is Kid, who sacrifices his youth to accompany his father on his quest.
