Screening & Live Event
Be Kind Rewind

Part of The Hollywood Classics behind Walkers
Sunday, November 8, 2015, 4:30 p.m.

Introduced by Pierre Bismuth and followed by an artist talk with Bismuth and curator Robert M. Rubin

Dir. Michel Gondry. 2008, 102 mins. 35mm. With Jack Black, Mos Def, Danny Glover. Preceded by Where Is Rocky II? Trailer (Dir. Pierre Bismuth, 2014, 4 mins.). Pierre Bismuth has the distinction of being one of the few visual artists who has won an Academy Award. He shared the Oscar with Michel Gondry and Charlie Kaufman for Best Screenplay for The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004). Bismuth's work often humorously alters objects from popular culture, so it is fitting that he will introduce Be Kind Rewind, Michel Gondry’s comedy in which two video-shop owners create their own no-budget “sweded” remakes of Hollywood movies. The screening will be followed by a conversation with Bismuth and Robert M. Rubin, curator of the exhibition Walkers: Hollywood Afterlives in Art and Artifact.
