On the island of Andros in the 1930s, when the burgeoning shipping industry was said to rival Great Britain’s, two sisters are united and divided by a secret: their love for the same man. This drama of “seamen who are tossed about the oceans, of women tortured by waves of loneliness,” in the words of director Pantelis Voulgaris, won six 2014 Hellenic Film Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
