At the police station, Sylvia and Bernardo, the victim’s parents, and Rosa, Bernardo’s lover (and the main suspect), give contradictory evidence. Rosa and Bernardo met on a suburban train in Rio de Janeiro. They became lovers. Rosa and Sylvia develop a secret friendship, without the latter knowing of the former’s relationship with her husband. Sylvia, tired of her housewife routine, sees her friendship with Rosa as a break from her tedious routine. Director Fernando Coimbra’s first feature film won Best Film at the Rio de Janeiro Film Festival.
