With stars Jesus Sanchez-Velez and Andrea Suarez in person

US. Dir. Sam Fleischner. 2013, 102 mins. DCP courtesy Oscilloscope Films. With Andrea Suarez Paz, Jesus Sanchez-Velez, Azul Zorrilla. Sam Fleischner’s remarkable second feature intermingles an indelible journey into the labyrinthine New York subway and an autistic boy’s psychological and emotional journey. When thirteen-year old Ricky (radiantly played by Jesus Sanchez-Valez, a non-professional actor with Asperger’s syndrome) runs away from his home in Rockaway Beach after an argument with his mother, he escapes underground, into the overwhelming and mysterious underpasses of the city subway. Meanwhile, his family weaves through the streets in a desperate frantic search. The film, which powerfully incorporates footage filmed in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, won a Special Jury Prize at the Tribeca Film Festival.

Tickets for Friday evening screenings: $12 ($9 for senior citizens and students / free for Museum members) and includes admission to the Museum's galleries, which are open until 8:00 p.m.
