Dir. Stephen Frears. 2013, 94 mins. DCP courtesy of The Weinstein Company. With Judi Dench, Steve Coogan. Based on an investigative book by a BBC correspondent, Stephen Frears’s powerfully engaging new film focuses on the efforts of Philomena Lee (magnificently played by Judi Dench), the Irish-Catholic mother of a boy who was conceived out of wedlock and given away for adoption in the United States. After starting a family years later in England, she meets a BBC reporter with whom she decides to discover her long-lost son.

This screening is an invite-only event for Silver Screen members and above.
