A pious Catholic who lives by Pascal's wager that there is everything to win and nothing to lose by living as though God exists, finds his beliefs challenged when a beautiful divorcee invites him to spend a platonic night in her apartment. The snowy winter backdrop and intimate conversations are exquisitely filmed in velvety black-and-white by Néstor Almendros.
