Danny Kaye (1913–1987) was one of the most versatile, charismatic, and beloved entertainers of the 20th century. He starred in eighteen movies, had an Emmy-winning variety show, and was equally brilliant as a comedian, singer, dancer, and dramatic actor—and best known for his shock of red hair, infectious smile, and ceaseless energy. He received two Academy Awards for his humanitarian activities. Danny Kaye’s daughter, Dena Kaye, will host this centennial tribute, which will begin with a jam-packed, breathtaking 28-minute compilation “The Genius of Danny Kaye,” with highlights from his remarkable career. Following the compilation will be a rare screening of Knock on Wood, which may be the best screen showcase for Kaye’s many talents.
