Saturday, November 19, 2011, 7:00 p.m.

Romania. Dir. Cristi Puiu. 2010, 181 mins. With Cristi Puiu, Clara Voda. In this new masterwork by the director of The Death of Mr. Lazarescu, a  brooding man is first seen quietly discussing Little Red Riding Hood with a woman while a girl sleeps in the next room. The film then relentlessly follows him as he plans and executes a shocking crime, avoiding movie clichés and reflecting the director’s stated belief that “there is no such thing as a murderer, only people who kill.”

Free with Museum admission.

Presented in collaboration with the Romanian Cultural Institute, New York
