Through January 28, 2018, the Leslie-Lohman Museum is presenting a comprehensive survey exhibition of pioneering visual artist and filmmaker Barbara Hammer, featuring previously unseen works of film and video, installations, works on paper, and material from her archive. Hammer works in various modes of material experimentation, primarily film and video. She is considered a pioneer of queer cinema. Hammer has made over 80 moving-image works in a career that spans 50 years. Barbara Hammer: Evidentiary Bodies addresses critical themes on lesbian representation, subjectivity, and sexuality; intimacy and sensation; and life and illness. The exhibition at the Leslie-Lohman Museum is accompanied by programs throughout New York City.
